Obituary of Pete Gastello

Pete Gastello (Peter) Peter Gastello was born at Phoenix Maricopa County Hospital September 14, 1965. Our mother Linda Cota Willie had 11 brother and sisters so she had plenty of help raising Peter. All the sisters Mary, Rosalie, Flora, Vicky and Mercy had their turn in babysitting. When Peter was 2 years old my mom met my dad Willie John Willie Sr. They lived here in Phoenix while in Bible School. My dad took my mom and Peter to live on the Navajo Reservation just outside of Tuba City, Az. A small community called Moenave AZ. Peter went to school on the reservation he was raised all throughout the Navajo reservation. As Peter grew up he gravitated toward his Aunts and Uncles staying with them in the city. When Peter was 16 he went to live with our Aunt Rosalie and Wiggle here in Phoenix. He attended Phoenix Job Corp, and as a young adult found a job working at Motorola. Aunt Rosalie and Wiggle were a big part of his young life. They taught him basic life skills and showed him what it meant to live in the city. When Peter left Motorola he went to live with his Uncle Susano and Uncle Roy in California. Shortly after, he came back home to Arizona and found a job working at ASU. During that time he met the love of his life "Jeannie". He moved to Tempe to be with Jeannie and their two dogs. They lived happily together for 8 years. Sadly, Jeannie passed away way too young. There were other people in Peter's life that helped him along the way. One family that knew Peter well, is Joe and "Gorda" Rangel. Peter spent a lot of time at their home and ate a lot meals there. If Peter was not at home - he was at the Rangel's home working on projects, eating and just enjoying his family. Everyone in the neighborhood knew him and he was loved by everyone. Peter was well known by a lot of people. His friends were his family. He shared bits and pieces of his life with different people. Peter always loved to go home to the reservation with his brother Wally. He loved to visit everyone including Arlis Chee and family just to talk about old times. He visited everyone he could in Moanave and he would always walk up to the pond. Peter had a lot of people who loved him including his father Pete Gastello Sr, Sister Carol and two brothers. They loved him dearly and have fond memories of Peter. I think we can all agree Peter felt the love from everyone. We all had a part in loving Peter in our own special way. We all have memories and we will cherish Peter forever in our hearts.
